U.S. History Wall Map - Mexican War & Compromise of 1850

Check out this sweet vintage school wall map that displays the United States and the associated impacts of territory ownership as a result of the Mexican War and the Compromise of 1850. Printed in Indianapolis, Indiana by the George F. Cram, Company, this wonderfully large map has wonderfully vivid colors and is printed on a heavy paper material. Back in the day this map would have been attached to a metal bracket and rod which would have allowed history teachers to easily pull down the map for display purposes in their classroom. As you can see, the map has since been removed from the bracket and is being sold as is. This map would look great hanging in your library or study, either framed or as is!

We absolutely love the map's bright color palette! The map details the entire United States, which is segmented into the following categories: Free States in 1850, Free Territories in 1850, Slave States in 1850, Slave Territory in 1850 and areas where the question of slavery was left up to the vote of the people.

Note: There is a slight glare on the map due to our lighting equipment. The colors are more bold in person!

Measurements: 51.25" Wide x 37.25" Long

Item Condition: Acceptable vintage condition! Colors are still wonderfully bold and vivid! Has some normal wear due to years of use (i.e. wrinkling, creases, etc). Map has been rolled up for many many years and as such has some rippling which you should be able to smooth out by flattening it. There are two tears on the lower portion of the map that the previous owner mended nicely by taping the backside. Specifically there is a 7 inch tear in the white portion of Mexico and a 6 inch tear starting in Southern Florida. Since they were mended we don't think they're all that bad, but please take a gander at the pictures for further details. Finally, along the lower right and left edges of the chart there are a few minor tears and wrinkles. With all of that said, we still think the map is pretty darn amazing, and if nothing else these defects add character to the piece. Would look great framed! Please see the provided pictures for further details.
